Incoming horses must have had the following vaccinations at least two weeks prior to drop off. (Immunity provided through shots takes two weeks to be fully effective).
- Current Negative Coggins,
- Venezuelan, Eastern, Western Encephalomyelitis,
- Tetanus,
- Flu/Rhino, (within the last four months) If your horse stays at our facility longer than 3 months a flu/rhino booster may be required.
- West Nile,
- Rabies.
- If your horse has had strangles or housed in a facility that had an outbreak of strangles in the last 6 months the horse must be tested prior to entering our facility.
- We recommend horses entering training to also have their teeth floated, and be looked over by a chiro/vet for any soundness/soreness issues.
- Colt starts are a minimum of 60 days. We also recommend 60 days for older horses that may have been off for quite awhile, we feel in this situation 30 days isn’t enough time to really get much done, young colts and horses who have sat for a lengthy period of time usually benefit from more time, and improve a lot during that second month. We recommend a 30 day tune up only for horses that are being ridden regularly, but maybe have a few minor problems with advanced maneuvers that need tuning on (leads, stops, softness, flag/cattle work etc...).
- Before committing to training, clients must come tour the ranch in person to discuss contract, goals, etc...
- We will also get you working with the horse in training with us, and we encourage people to come out and watch what we are doing, ride their horse, and participate as much as possible, lessons with your horse in training are free of charge.
